TOWN HOUSE - VILLA

Our home comprises a spacious lounge & dining room, fully fitted kitchen, downstairs bathroom with shower, and 4th bedroom (with two single bunk beds and a baby's cot).

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, (one en-suite), with a third bathroom. All upper bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, and ceiling fans.

There are two freestanding fans. The lounge is equipped with 4 sofa's (3 & 2 seater x2) and 2 coffee tables, satellite TV (inc free-to-air digital UK & European channels), mini HI-FI, & DVD player.

Patio doors to ground-floor terrace, pool, Jacuzzi & barbeque. The dining table may be extended, and in it's normal size easily accommodates 6 persons.

The 3 upper bedrooms all have ceiling fans and built-in wardrobes. The master bedroom (with en-suite bathroom), has twin aspects views of the sea and the coast, and it's own terrace.

The terrace has a new small wrought iron table and 4 chairs, still leaving room for loungers. It benefits from Central Heating for the cooler off-season months. Fully fitted kitchen, built-in cooker, & hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, cafetierre & microwave.

We have provided a couple of UK plug adapters and trailing extension sockets - to make it easier to charge up cameras, mobiles, camcorders etc.

LOCAL AREA

There is a 5 to 10-minute walk to the local beach, adjoining the sandy beach of Puerto de Mazarron, harbour and marina.

Meet and Greet Service.

All guests will be greeted personally on arrival at the house and shown round the property, and will be given a Guide to Mazarron. You will have an English speaking contact during your holiday, just in case of any problems. On the day of departure, my representative will be on hand to collect the keys, and to make sure that everything was to your satisfaction.

We ate at the place you recommended to us on the front of the harbour ( Cafe Bocateria) and we had a take away paella one night from the bar at the end of the road. We also tried lots of other places to eat and had a few barbeques. Everything represented excellent value for money and the local people were very friendly. I can honestly say we didn't find there was anything missing from our stay, Casa Craven does represent excellent value for money. The pool and jacuzzi were well cleaned and maintained, we found some lovely beaches and liked the fact that it is still quite Spanish. I will certainly recommend it to others."

Cortijo Grande, listed in Daily Telegraph World Top 10 of 9 hole courses is a 15 minute drive away. Soon to be upgraded to 18 holes. Great views, unique location. Marina del Golf - 18 hole including putting and driving range, 20 minutes by car. Desert Springs, the only true desert course in Europe, great location very different and challenging - 30 minutes.

Special interest

Holidays Area of major geological significance to those with an interest in the subject. Several UK based universities have explored the area and run regular field trips. Travel The villa is just 40 minutes drive from Almeria airport, Murcia airport is 80 minutes away along the new, uncongested toll road. Alicante Airport is 2 hours drive. Car is essential. Distances The nearest village is Los Gallardos just 10 minutes drive away. Here you will find a small weekly market (Tue), typically Spanish shops, bars, restaurants, banks, doctor, chemist and more. There is also a petrol station which sells basic items and English Sunday papers. The town of Turre, just 15 minutes away, has a large supermarket and greater selection of restaurants and bars.

There are several English speaking businesses including a shop which sells English books, cards and DVDs. Further details Mojacar Pueblo, a traditional Spanish whitewashed hilltop village is 15 minutes away. Mojacar Playa, a very popular sandy beach resort is the same distance. Garrucha is just along the coast and features a fishing port, marina and sporting harbour. Dominion Beach (apartment)

Full Description:

Our apartment is on a luxury complex with landscaped gardens and swimming pools. Mature cypress trees line the entrance to the complex. A beach restaurant is also located within the complex.

Luxury marbled floor with Sky + and Wifi Internet. Both rooms are en-suite, fully furnished to a high degree.

Flights with the budget airlines are extremely affordable which makes this an ideal opportunity for a weekend away; perhaps a romantic break without the kids, a girly weekend or maybe a golfing ‘jolly’ with the boys. Take your pick, there are 60 courses to choose from! Drive inland up to the Sierra Nevada and you could be skiing within two hours. Ski in the morning, sunbathe in the evening.

We are baja (beachside) rather than alta (mountainside) - which means you don’t need to cross the main road to get to the beach! The complex also boasts Sky Television & WIFI Internet access.

Our apartment is perfectly situated within 10 minutes of Puerto Banus. This is a great place to be pampered whilst ogling the celebrities on their luxury yachts as you sip a drink at one of the open air restaurants or bars. Within driving distance is unspoilt mountainous beauty, with great views being able to be seen throughout the whole region.

Full Description: A charming Mediterranean, recently built villa. Situated in an exclusive residential area 10 minutes from central Palma and 20 minutes from the airport. The villa is on two levels and it sleeps 7 people in 4 bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom and direct access to a large balcony with outstanding sea views. There is a spacious living room, dining area and well equipped kitchen. Outside, the house is surrounded by gardens and on the top level there is a swimming pool, large sunbathing area, covered terrace with built-in barbecue and dining area, all overlooking the sea. The villa has air-conditioning in living room and double bedrooms. There are several golf courses within 15 minutes drive.

Changeover day
During Saturdays departures should be before 11h and arrivals are welcome after 15h.

Other:	The library is on the top floor with direct access to the swimming pool and to a nice balcony with fantastic bay views. It is furnished with a desk, chairs and a double sofa bed. The villa has a double garage.
Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service:	All linen and towels are provided (except the beach ones). Cleaning and linen changes can be arranged for extra charge.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is built on a 1000m2 plot on the top of the hill. The main entrance on the garage level leads to the hall level by a staircase. In that floor there are three separated areas: bedrooms, kitchen and living room. In the upper level there is a suite and a library. From the upper level and at the rear of the property is the pool and BBQ area accessed by a staircase on the very top of the plot.

Outside
The villa is surrounded by its own private gardens. There is a terrace at the front accessed from the lounge, with wooden table and chairs. From the suite, there is another terrace with table and chairs to comtemplate the stunning views over the sea. The pool area is on the very top of the villa, in a private environment.

Coast/Beach
Puerto Portals is just a few minutes drive from Costa D'en Blanes. This luxury marina is the summer capital of Mallorca's jet-set. Celebrities, fashion icons and member's of the Spanish royal family all moor their yachts here in the privileged position on Palma Bay. The marina waterfront promenade has become a place to see and be seen. Classy restaurants, cafes and bars rub shoulders with one another. The closest beach is just a few minutes drive away - Cala Portals Nous.

Golf
There are several golf courses within 15 minutes drive, including Royal Bendinat, Santa Ponsa, Golf de Andratx, Poniente and Son Vida.

Travel
The villa is just about 20 minutes form the airport and 10 minutes from Palma ferry port. A hire car is recommended although not essential as taxis are cheap and easy.

Booking notes
All prices are per week, normally from Saturday to Saturday, and for a maximum of 7 people. The minimal rental period is one week. The price includes bed linen, towels etc. for the first week. Additional maid and cleaning service may be arranged by prior request. A 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking and the balance payable 4 weeks prior to departure. A refundable security deposit of 1000 euros cash (or £700 cheque) will be taken as security against breakages upon arrival.

The patio doors in the master bedroom opens to the South facing sun terrace which overlooks the peaceful Bellaluz square where eating your afternoon lunch or evening meal is highly recommended. The balcony overlooking the square can comfortably seat 4-6 people

This area provides a variety of lovely unspoilt sandy beaches waiting for you to explore and because of its status of nature reserve there are no buildings whatsoever. Access is via dirt tracks; La Manga Club has a beach 'La Cala' which is accessible by car. La Cala has a lovely seafood restaurant overlooking the beach. A little further away (within 10 minutes drive) you will find the Mar Menor, an inland sea that is warm, calm, offering superb water sport facilities along with fine sandy beaches, great for the kids. Water sport activities can also be booked through La Manga Club.

Other Sports / Travel: There are many walks in the surrounding hills and beaches, along with some great mountain bike routes. Mountain bikes can be hired on site. There is also a water sports activity centre on site where you can book, sailing, wind surfing, scuba diving and motor boating on the nearby Mar Menor. Because the facilities are so extensive at La Manga club, the BBC held the 2003/04 Superstars on site. Cheap flights to Murcia (20 minutes drive from La Manga Club) from UK regional airports are plentiful with airlines such as Ryan air, My Travelite, BMI Baby and Flybe. A little further away is Alicante Airport (1 hour) with numerous charter and scheduled flights from the UK. Car hire is useful but not essential. The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

With over 320 days of lovely sunshine and miles upon miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches this really is a place to come and relax and enjoy yourselves.

The apartment is within easy reach of various other resorts and attractions:-

Fuengirola is central for numerous activities and is 10 mins away from La Cala. It has 5 miles of sandy beaches,an open air Zoo and Aqua park. Sohail Castle is situated at the west end of the promenade and has a park which hosts many festivals throughout the year. Fuengirola has a multitude of nightlife activities varied restaurants and late-night/early morning bars for the young at heart.

Benalmadena is only about 20 mins away from La Cala and is easily accessible by car, taxi or bus. Benalmadena Costa has a 9km's stretch of beach and a 2km promenade which culminates in it's fabulous marina which has been voted the best in the world. The area is a constant hive of activity both day and night housing many cosmopolitan shops and restaurants with many day and evening boat trips going out from the harbour on an hourly or daily basis to fish or just to dolphin watch and sunbathe.Slowly sail around the marina in an old Chinese Junk or take a 30 minute thrilling speed boat ride down the coast..There is also a Diving and Sea Life Centre within the harbour complex.
Set back from Benalmadena in the hills you have Benalmadena Pueblo a traditional Spanish village with authentic shops and tapas restaurants. Calahonda is a 5minute drive away on the road to Marbella.There are three commercial centres here which house most of the development's 45 restaurants, cafeterias and pubs as well as seven banks, and several supermarkets.
Sports are easily incorporated into a Calahonda lifestyle. For starters, there are a total of 10 golf courses within a 10 kilometre radius of this urbanisation, which also has its own port, Cabopino. And, having its own share of coastline, puts a spotlights on a wide array of water sports as well. Tennis courts and a fitness centre.

The playgrounds of Marbella and Puerto Banus are also a short journey away Marbella is 10-15 mins away and has something for everyone it's sea front water sports centres offer jet ski-ing, sailing, cable ski-ing and balloon flights. Stroll along the golden mile and dine at some of the most sumptuous restaurants that the Mediterranean has to offer. Marbella is much more cosmopolitan than most towns on the Costa del Sol and is a place to, " people watch" for the many celebs that frequent the area; it is often compared to the likes of Monaco and Portofino.

The Glitz and glamour of Puerto Banus is between 15-20 mins away it houses the yachts and speedboats of the rich and famous. Expensive designer shops are here along with a Casino, a Commercial Shopping Centre, a Corte Ingles department store a Marine Observatory and a multi cinema with films shown with their original soundtrack.

Gibraltar is also approximately a 50 minute drive away ; a must see visit like stepping out of Spain back into England within 5 minutes!..Here you have a multitude of English High Street stores and wines, spirits, perfumes and cigarettes are duty free.When you visit Gibraltar, you will find that the people are friendly, helpful and always polite. They are very proud and if you visit on September 10th (National Day) wear red and white to help celebrate and to fit in!

Mijas Costa / La Cala de Mijas area

La Cala is a charming fishing village with a new plaza which houses numerous shops, cafe's, Tapas bars, English stye sports bars and restaurants which appeal to every taste. There are numerous banks, currency exchanges and a large supermarket in the plaza. The long beach is well cared for , clean, soft and golden sand with sunbeds and parasols for rental.

There is an abundance of good quality watersports and recreational facilities in an around La Cala. Tennis club "Club del Sol" welcomes all comers as does the the lawn bowls centre at Miraflores. There are also gymnasiums, dive centres within minutes of the village.

Although the complex is on a golf course there are other numerous golf courses in the region El Chaperel,La Cala, Santana and numerous others.

The Mijas Hippodrome, ( a racetrack) is situated a few km's from La Cala which has meetings every week and includes lots of entertainment around the course. Anyone visiting Mijas will of course want to wander through the beautiful, whitewashed mountain Pueblo to enjoy the spectacular views.

There are numerous organised trips to Morocco, Gibraltar Rhonda etc available to book within the village area.

Our delightful holiday home is just minutes walk away from El Paraiso golf course to name but one of the 30 courses in the area and close to beaches and mountains. The lively resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banus are just a short drive away. It is within easy access to all amenities including local markets and many excellent restaurants for eating out.

The larger than average ground floor apartment is tastefully furnished with one double en suite and one twin bedroom with additional folding bed. The large double terrace leads to beautiful gardens and overlooks the pool making it perfect for lazy days in the sun.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Benhavis/El Paraiso is between San Pedro and Estepona. Just a short drive to Marbella and Puerto Banus. It is in the heart of the famous Costa Del Sol's superb golf courses of which there are over 30 all within 30 minutes drive.

The fantastic climate makes this a popular tourist area all year round. Just a 50 minutes drive through the mountains will take you to the spectacular Tajo Gorge in Ronda or approximately 2 hours away are the exciting cities of Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada,

San Pedro de Alcantara / Benhavis El Paraiso Golf area

Benahavis is a lovely spanish village in the mountains yet only about a 15 minute drive away, it has very narrow cobbled streets with amazing views and an abundance of good quality restaurants and bars.

Estepona again about a 15 minutes drive away is a coastal town yet still has the pueblo charm. Here you will find a beautiful sandy beach and along the promenade you come to a pretty port with restaurants In the town there are numerous street cafes and tapas bars serving traditional spanish delicacies. Lots of unusual shops and bodegas. There is a market twice a week. The summer fair (festival) is held 1st week in July.

San Pedro is approximately a 10 minute drive. From the centre take a pleasant walk along the Avienda del Marques del Duero an avenue flanked by palm trees down to the beach front. Here there is a wide promenade with bars and restaurants and along here is the well known Boro Boro one of the best beach clubs on the coast which has a superb restaurant and all the usual beach facilities, quite a tropical paradise.

Close by there are approcimately 3 restaurants within walking distance and also El Paraiso hotel which has a roof top bar with panoramic view of the whole area.

There are loungers a table and 4 chairs plus folding chairs for guests use at the pool/beach.

Close by 8 other Polarisworld Nicklaus design courses (4 open at present) make up the Nicklaus golf trail. Historical Murcia City with its spectacular Cathedral and traditional Mercian cuisine is within easy reach. The Costa Calida/Murcia region

The Costa Calida (Warm Coast) is almost unknown to many people and probably Spain's Best Kept Secret, with the beautiful Mar Menor (little sea) the largest salt-water lagoon in Europe also considered to be the worlds largest swimming pool, which is safe for all forms of water sport; it is non-tidal, crystal clear and shallow never reaching more than 7 metres in depth and with average water temperature of 23 degrees. There are 18km of sandy beaches which are ideal for families as the water is calm, shallow and warm throughout the year. Perfect for participating in the many water sports on offer. There are also mud baths in the thermal waters at Lo Pagan located at the north of the Mar Manor.

Walking is also very popular along the beach promenade, with plenty of cafes, tapas bars, palm trees and restaurants found along the beach front.
The towns around the Mar Menor are small, bustling, traditional and lively, and the people who live there are very friendly and inviting. A day trip to Murcia City, (about 15 minutes drive) to visit some of the stunning historical places of interest, art and culture is a must. Likewise a visit to the ancient seaport of Cartagena, (20 minute drive) to stroll along the harbour and see ancient ruins is a wonderful family day out. Other wonderful cities to visit are Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz, which is the 5th Holiest City in the World.

The Mar Menor was ‘created’ a little over 1000 years ago. Originally a safe little bay, offering shelter for even large ships, it became a natural lagoon when sediments from the sea built up on a small underwater mountain range and closed off the inlet with a sandbar. On its Western side is mainland Spain, and on its Eastern side is La Manga de Mar Menor, a strip of land, (known as The Strip), that is no more than 900 metres at its broadest point with views of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean.

The climatic conditions of the Mar Menor, with a high number of hours of sun per year and its high salinity, have brought about the deposit, over the centuries, of clays for therapeutic treatment in various areas of the Mar Menor. The beaches are cleaned and combed every day, resulting in the awards of the E.U. Blue Flags for cleanliness and maintenance. In fact, the region was recently declared the cleanest area in Spain by the World Health Organisation. You can swim in the Mar Menor or minutes later swim in the Mediterranean. There are at least 315 days of sun per year with minimum temperatures ranging between 12-14C and maximum temperatures between 20-22C in winter. Summer temperatures vary between 18-20C minimum and between 30-35C maximum. The average annual temperature is 18C.
There is also a New Water Park (Terra Aqua Murcia) and Animal park (Terra Natura Murcia) just 20 minutes away.

The region is of course becoming more and more famous for its fabulous array of golf courses, and is now world renowned for its Jack Nicklaus Golf Trail, of which the Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort plays an integral part.

Montejaque is a delightful mountain village located in the foothills of the Grazalema Natural Park. It lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty and ideal for anyone interested in walking, birdwatching or other outdoor activities. In springtime it is a haven for wildflowers. Artists will find a multitude of inspiring views and subjects.

There are many and varied places of interest to visit within this interesting and culturally rich area of Andalucia, however for those who wish to just relax and 'chill out' the tranquillity of the house and village are ideal.

Montejaque has several shops which sell most of your basic requirements, tapas bars and restaurants, other bars and restaurants are available within a short distance of the the village.

Nearby Ronda has supermarkets and a wider range of shops, restaurants etc.

It is not possible to drive your car up to the house, however parking is available in the streets around the village square 5 minutes walk away.

Some streets in the village are quite steep and may not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Casa ‘Santa Maria’ has several different levels within the house and is unsuitable for toddlers.

A car is highly recommended in order to access all the delights available in this area.

The nearest beach is one hour drive away at San Pedro.

The villa is situated on a large site in a rural area, although close enough to all amenities.

The pool is 10m X 5m and has sun all day. We have a cover on the pool which does raise the temp, so in the cooler months it can still be used.There is seating and an eating area on the terrace with bbq. There is paving around the pool with sun loungers. The property is well equipped trying to accommodate home from home comforts. The villa has hot & cold air conditioning.Fully equip kitchen,all bedding and towels on site but no beach towels.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region

Just a 5 min drive to La Torre golf resort Just 12km away are the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, or little sea. The waters of the Mar Menor are always a few degrees warmer than the Mediterranean, and provide sheltered, safe bathing for children. The Mar Menor is also a perfect place to practice a huge range of water sports, from scuba diving to windsurfing, sailing to water skiing, and there are water sports centres located around the shores, easily spotted and offering top class facilities whether you are looking to rent equipment or take a lesson.

The stunning mountain landscape behind the village is an outdoor activity haven. There are many great walking, hiking and riding routes through the mountains, offering fantastic views in every direction. Approximately 10minutes away is the natural lagoon of the Mar Menor with 73km of coastline and tranquil villages. The waters are some of the richest and best around with plenty of water sport sites. Within a 60minute radius there are 10 golf courses with more promised including the world famous championship course of la Manga and Villamartin. Not to far up the coast is Torrevieja which has further shopping, hypermarkets and a water park. There is a sea life park in Benidorm. Accessibility
Not suitable for wheel chair users. The property is a single storey Andalucian finca but as is customary in the old fincas there is a step down into the kitchen from the reception room and another from the lounge into the reception room which would be difficult to negotiate for wheel chair users.

Outside
The private, heated 8x4m pool has an outdoor shower with poolside table, chairs and sunbeds. Large parasols, wooden outdoor dining furniture and BBQ are situated on the terrace. The large, south facing, walled courtyard offers privacy but still affords spectacular views across the valley. The property is situated so that sun or shade is available at any time of the day. The shade of the carob tree is a perfect place to sit with a gin and tonic at the end of the day and take in the amazing sunsets.

Coast/Beach
The beaches at Torrox Costa are only 12km from the house and the popular resort of Nerja just a 20 min drive away.

Golf

Malaga airport services many low cost airlines and is 55km from the house. Car hire is essential.

Distances
The white hillside village of Cómpeta with its rich history dating back to the Moors is just 3km away. A visit to the famous caves at Nerja is definitely a must during your stay. Granada can be reached within 2 hours.

Further details
Cómpeta, known as the 'pearl of the Axarquia' is renowned for its wine and honey. The pretty village square is a perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by in the shade of the beautiful 16th century church. There are an abundance of excellent restaurants and tapas bars emanating from here. You'll also find interesting local craft shops, art galleries, wine museum and of course, banks and supermarkets. This is definitely a great base to explore the beautiful and still unspoilt Axarquia region with its back drop of the Sierra Almijaras and Tejedas. Local activities include horse riding, quad biking, cycling, walking and a wealth of water sports are available on the coast. The lively and popular resort of Nerja, where the mountains meet the sea is only 20 minutes drive away. An evening visit to see the street artists at Nerja's 'Balcon de Europa' with shops, bars and restaurants close by should not be missed. Just 2 hours drive will take you Granada with its magnificent Alhambra Palace and just a little further to the Sierra Nevadas. It's possible to ski in the morning and still be back in time to sip a drink by the pool and watch the sun go down. Cómpeta and the surrounding area is a walker's paradise from October to May. The Almijara and Tejeda National park is an area of outstanding natural beauty and it's right on the doorstep. There are several maps and walking books provided in the finca along with plenty of tourist information. The mild winter is a wonderful time to explore the string of white villages which lie in the foothills and the National Park recreation areas.

Situated on the neck of a grassy headland with miles of clean, safe beaches on either side and close to the brand new harbour of Puerto de mazarron this fully furnished self-catering flat overlooks a newly laid out park which has two children's play areas. We believe we have equipped the apartment with everything you will need for a happy holiday. There are two bedrooms, one with double bed and the s econd with two single beds. Children (and Adults) will enjoy the traditional Donkey rides here that take you up and around the Village passing the smallest and one of the oldest Bullrings in Spain.

The Urbanization employes it's own full time gardener "Paco" who has over the years created the most wonderful enviroment in which to live/holiday, with lush gardens, trees, plants and vegetation along with an attractive large water feature to the centre of the development. The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Set between Torre de Benagalbon a typically quiet Spanish village and the town of Rincon de la Victoria, also a very Spanish location. Colinas del Golf is a quiet Urbanization set over looking Rincon close to the popular Anoreta Golf course, which has an excellent 18 hole course, driving range and a club house that provides some excellent food whilst sat over looking part of the course.

Further up the coast (some 15 minute drive) there is the larger town of Torre del Mar again with excellent facilites including livley bars/restaurants and superb beach and prominarde. For those who seek even more shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs the town of Nerja is only some 20 minutes direct drive from the house, although the coast road makes for a more scenic journey taking some extra 5 minutes.

You also have the major Town and Port of Malaga only 20 minutes drive away heading West and beyond the popular holiday destinations of Fuengirola and Marbella.

Rincon de la Victoria / Anoreta areaRincon de la Victoria originally a fishing village has grown over the last few years due to it's popularity amongst the Spanish as a holiday destination although it still retains a very Spanish feel, It has a beautiful 9km sandy beach with a number of good restaurants and lively bars, although during the winter months the area becomes much quieter.

Within the region there are some great facilities, including horse riding, fishing, surfing, diving, sailing, golf, and water skiing, along with some very scenic coastal and inland walks. As always there is some great shopping areas avilable with names such as Mango and Zara nearby.

Cleaning etc: Towels and linen are provided with the exception of beach towels. The house is fully cleaned for arrival and the final day cleaning will be charged at €65 and is payable on arrival to the keyholder.
Notes:
This house is suitable for four people. If you want to take a larger party, we can arrange rental of the town house next door (which includes a hot tub) giving accommodation for eight people.

Accessibility:
The property has not been adapted for wheelchair users although there is a ground floor bedroom and bathroom. There is a small step leading up to the front door and a thresh hold out onto the patio area.
Outside:
There is a carport at the front of the property. The back of the property, on the edge of the golf course, is fenced. There is one covered patio on the ground floor and two further sun terraces with far reaching views over the golf course to the front and almond groves and the mountains beyond to the rear. There are many shared pools on the resort and one is next to tennis courts two minutes walk from the house.
Coast/Beach:
The shallow ‘inland sea’ of the Mar Menor is about 20minutes by car from La Torre. It provides facilities for water sports of all kinds. The small coves on the northern coast beyond the Mar Menor are connected by a wide walkway suitable for exploring on foot or on a bicycle. Alternatively just park at beach and visit a beach bar.

500 metres away there is a supermarket that has all the goods that you require for self-catering and there is also a pharmacy. There are a variety of bars and restaurants that offer Tapas and more substantial dishes for your delight. A short drive away is the fishing village of Cabo de Palos renowned for it's fish restaurants and majestic lighthouse, well worth a visit in the evening when it really comes alive. Cabo lies at the bottom of the famouse La Manga strip where there is all sorts of nightlife to satisfy even the most ardent clubber. La Manga also has beautifull white sand beaches that that are washed by the warm, mediterranean sea; possibly one of the finest beaches in all of the mediterranean and holder of the coveted EU blue flag of cleanliness.

Playa Honda is situated on the shores of the Mar Menor in the Province of Murcia, a coastal area which boasts one of the most moderate climates in Spain. Costa Calida, Murcia region
Hacienda Riquelme (HR) is 3 min drive from the village of Sucina, for banks, tapas, internet cafe and local supermarkets (incl. one English), also a picturesque Roman Catholic Church.

The Regional City of Murcia is a 20 min drive away for restaurants, night life, sight-seeing, shopping. Set along the river it has been described as one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the country. Its Cathedal is the most prized among many monumental buildings.

Cartegena is another wonderful historic, walled city with great shopping facilites. The local train from Riquelme station (5 min drive) can take you there through fantastic scenery or else its a 30 min drive.

At San Javier just 20 minutes drive away is Dos Mares shopping mall, which includes 10 pin bowling, cinema and an extensive food hall.

Nueva Condomina has a shopping mall with 200 shops, including many U.K high street chains that you will be familiar with. This complex also provides a huge range of restaurants, 10 pin bowling and 6 screen cinema.

The New Water park (Terra Aqua Murcia) and Animal park (Terra Natura Murcia) provide a wonderful family day out, with something for all ages just 25 minutes from the resort. The views south across the Almanzora Valley to the Sierra de los Filabres are breathtaking. Casa Lala is situated in the centre of Lucar, a very quiet, typical hill village near Tijola on the A334 and midway between the towns of Baza and Albox. Lucar now boasts a new bodega selling excellent wine from the region and has a good municipal swimming pool free to residents, open in July and August. Cela, a village nearby, has a fascinating large thermal pool open all year, surrounded by bars and restaurants. In Lucar itself are 2 well-stocked supermarkets, a bakery, chemists, doctor's surgery, butchers and several basic bar/restaurants, plus a small market every Friday. Beaches of the east coast, Vera and Mojacar, are an hour's drive or so and the south coast including Cabo da Gata, one and a half hours via a wonderful mountain route. Half an hour to the west, near Baza is a very popular lake. There are wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching across the entire region.

Notes on accommodation
Casa Lala is not suitable for the elderly, infirm or small children. The house is built into the hillside, so it is on many levels, with irregular steps, some quite large, and very low beamed ceilings.
However, this is its charm, and is what drew us to buy and renovate it. The full restoration has been achieved sensitively using typical, natural and local materials with original wooden beams throughout. Modern conveniences provide the best of both worlds. There is a good supply of olive wood logs for the open fire to keep you cosy in the colder months and air conditioning to keep you cool in the summer.
Outside, the large south-facing private patio has both shade and sun all day long. Pots and planted areas enhance the patio and are irrigated with an automatic system - plus a watering can for you to use! The views are incredible. We never tire of them!
No smoking or pets please, but please feed the little cat that comes to the kitchen window (we'll send details).

Accessibility
Foot access to the house is down a slope or along a narrow street from abundant close roadside parking. A very small car can reach the property where there is a small parking space, but it is not for the faint-hearted! The streets were built for people and donkeys, not cars!
Outside areas need treating with considerable caution, as there are some steep drops and many steps throughout the village and close to the house.

Outside
The good sized private patio area is accessed from the kitchen and also the dining area. It has a table, 5 chairs, two comfortable loungers and 3 outside lights - chat over a glass or two of local wine on balmy evenings, we do! There is also an outside tap, a washing line and small store of wood. The first floor tiled terrace is accessed from the main bedroom. At the front is a gravelled area with some plants and more firewood.

Coast/Beach
Vera beach, including a naturist section, is about one hour's drive east. Garrucha, a fishing village with good seafood restaurants is close by. Further south is Mojacar pueblo and beach.
About one and a half hour's drive south over the mountains are Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce with good beaches, promenades and restaurants.
To the east of Almeria near Cabo de Gata is a very long and quiet beach accessed via wooden walkways, with clear water. Other quiet bays are to be found in the area.

Golf
The most well-known course is 'Desert Springs', near to Vera - about an hour's drive.

Skiing
Those flying via Granada or Malaga may wish to visit the Sierra Nevada ski resorts. From Lucar it will take you at least 2 hours to drive there.

Travel
Car hire is essential and details can be provided.
Nearest airports are Almeria and Granada, which are used by low-cost airlines. Both are one and a half hours drive or so on good, quiet roads. We provide very clear directions.
Granada is served by Ryanair from London and Liverpool; Monarch from London. Almeria is served by Easijet from Stanstead and Monarch from Manchester. Malaga is about 2 and a half hours drive, with flights from almost every airport in the UK. Other airports within striking distance are Murcia and Alicante.

Distances
Granada is the most significant city within reach - about an hour and a half by car, through wonderful mountains and plateaux on good roads. On the way is Guadix, famous for its cave dwellings. In Granada the Alhambra is not to be missed and the old city centre is definitely worth exploring - sit in one of the many squares to enjoy a drink, free tapas and watch the world go by.
Mini Hollywood, of 'Spagetti Western' fame is about an hour's drive south over the mountain road, close to Tabernas.

Further details
Take a step back in time! In Lucar some people still use donkeys to work on the land returning at the end of the day laden with fodder. There are springs where drinking water is collected, cave houses, herds of goats and sheep to listen out for, exquisite almond and orange blossom in the Spring, olive groves, delicious figs and flame coloured pomegranates. The dried-up river-beds or 'ramblas' are used by walkers and drivers alike and a talc mine trail passes by Lucar - still for our exploration!
The excellent municipal swimming pool in Lucar, open in July and August is free of charge and has a life guard. There is a good pool bar open all year serving tapas and cheap basic meals. The pool at Cela, nearby, also free, is very popular, particularly in the summer. It has several bars and restaurants serving a variety of food at very good prices.
Just outside Lucar is the new bodega selling inexpensive wine from the 'Alto Almanzora' region. Tastings are available at any time during opening hours and tours can be booked for 5 euros each which includes many tastings and a free bottle to take away. Tijola is the nearest small town, 10 minutes by car. It has all the usual banks, shops and services, plus a good Saturday market. Baza to the west and Albox to the east along the A334 are half an hour's drive away. Both have large Mercadona supermarkets (brilliant seafood) and excellent outdoor markets. The closest main supermarket is at Olula del Rio, 20 minutes by car.

Lucar and other local villages are perfect starting points for walks, bird watching, etc. There are several excellent locations for watching the more exotic birds found in the region, eg Salinas at Cabo de Gata and Roquetas de Mar - many species of waders and wildfowl including flamingo, stilt, avocet, etc. Locally we have many species such as golden oriole, bee-eater, black redstart, black wheatear, hoopoe, etc.

The city of Murcia has developed into a modern city full of art, architecture and museums. The Mediterranean coast (Costa Calida) has beaches of fine sand and the Mar Menor offer great possiblities for water sports.

Alicante is easily accessible and has great beaches, plenty of history, culture and museums as well as festivities.

San Pedro Del Pinatar area

Lo Pagan/San Pedro

Lo Pagan/San Pedro are situated on the north west corner of the Mar Menor only a ten minute drive from Murcia San Javier airport and approx. 45 minutes from Alicante (transfers from both airports can be arranged). Flights to both airports are available from the UK by the majority of budget airlines. In the summer Lo Pagan/San Pedro are pleasant beach resorts with numerous bars and restaurants and miles of promenade shaded by palm trees. Nightlife is plentiful with clubs, bars and street cafes, outside shows and beach activities plus a fairground by the marina. In low season it is more restful but there are still plenty of shops, bars and restaurants available. For those who enjoy shopping, there is 'Dos Mares' a shopping centre only 2 km away with two floors of modern shops cafes, cinema, amusement arcade and bowling alley. There is a large weekly market held on Mondays in San Pedro and Thursdays in Lo Pagan also a Culture Hall, theatre and the main church in the square.

The Mar Menor

The Mar Menor (Minor Sea) is separated from the Mediterranean by a strip of land 22Km long which forms a barrier and has created a shallow warm lagoon. The beaches are clean and sandy and the water is no more than 7 meters at it's deepest making it ideal for children. Because of this depth the water warms quickly and this temperature remains throughout the season. The climate of the Mar Menor guarantees pleasant temperatures all year round. The Mar Menor, is famous for its therapeutic mud baths and salt lakes and is the ideal location to ease away those aches and pains. There is a new thalasatherapy and spa centre half a mile from the property offering natural treatments as well as a bit of pampering, details of treatments available are provided in the guest book.

Additional local activities include diving, fishing, cycling, horse riding, bird watching, sailing, para gliding, water skiing, wind surfing, jet skiing, cimema, bowling, boat trips, health spas and museums.

The larger town of Torrevieja is a short drive (or bus ride) away and has many night clubs, bars restaurants, cinemas, bowling, shops, parks, arcades, go karting and a marnina.

The Immediate Area

The beautiful port of La Duquesa offers full marina services for boating enthusiasts as well as a myriad of attractions for those with no aspirations to take to the water. The vast choice of eating and drinking options include French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and, of course, Spanish with its fresh, local fish. Numerous services and grocers are also on hand. Estepona

Estepona is one of the most westerly towns of the Costa del Sol and a key tourist town. It is situated right on the coast, approx 70km from Malaga, between Marbella and Manilva. It has excellent facilities, from restaurants and bars to fantastic beaches. The area is laden with activities to keep the tourists busy and the area around is bursting with fascinating sites and places to see. There is something for everyone here. Within Estepona you can find a Traditional old style Andalusian pueblo. But you’ll also find a thoroughly modern tourist aimed town. Here is a town that maintains its rustic charm whilst still providing a holiday haven. That has, unfortunately become a rare thing. Estepona is definitely an exceptional and unique place.

By train: The nearest train stations are located in Algeciras (50km) and Fuengirola (53 km). The train station of Málaga (70km) has a good train service to all major cities in Spain. By ship: The splendid facilities of the Yatching Port of Estepona allow it to receive a wide range of ships and yachts. Furthermore, the international port of Algeciras, at 50 kilometers, connects with the North of Africa and issues tickets to all the continents. There are direct lines between the port of Málaga and Melilla, Ceuta and Tánger. The main cruises that sail the Mediterranean Sea stop also in Málaga.

Other attractions...

Close by there are many attractions to interest the whole family. Selwo Safari Park in Estepona with its animals roaming semi-wild is a great day out, as is the Zoo in Fuengirola. There are also two Water Parks close by: one in Mijas Costa and the other in Torremolinos. Another great day out is a visit to Gibraltar, where you can take a tour of 'The Rock' and meet the Apes. For the more adventurous, you can take a day trip to Morocco on the fast Ferry from Algerciras. Also in the area are several beautiful villages, towns and cites. These include Casares , Ronda, Mijas, Selville and Granada to name but a few. The Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf, with good reason. There are at least 40 courses along the coastline. Closest to our property are Estepona and Duquesa, both within a 5 minute drive and reasonably priced. The famous Valderrama course is 15 minutes away as is San Roque, Marbella, Atalaya, El Paraiso and Sontogrande. Handicap Certificate usually required.

The coastal road to and from Vera Playa is really stunning, with viewing points dotted along it, where you can stop the car and take it all in. It is hard to keep your eyes on the road!

Golf

Desert Springs. 10 mins. Spanish home of the English Golf Union and first desert course in Europe. Like playing in Arizona! Aguilon. 15 mins. Spectacular with 100 bunkers, 6 lakes and natural ravines (take plenty of spare balls!). Marina Golf. 20 mins. Course of two halves, you'll remember the par 5 4th hole. Valle del Este. 15 mins. The local area

There are some beautiful towns in the area. The neighbouring town of Garrucha is a fishing town with yacht marina and palm tree lined promenade. Mojacar pueblo is a typically Moorish whitewashed village set in the hills above the beach resort. There is a myriad of choice of restaurants in these and other local villages. Within 5 minutes walk of the apartment are three 4* hotels where you will be welcome to enjoy their entertainment. Internet access is available here also. There are three Natural Parks in the Province of Almeria. Additionally there is also the only desert in Europe where there is a mini Hollywood which has been the location for many Western movies. On a visit here you can see Wild West shootouts, public hangings and bank robberies.

Climate

This part of Spain offers the best climate in the country. With more than 5,000 hours of sunshine per year, the average daily temperature is in excess of 20 degrees.

Airports and local transport

The nearest airport is Almeria, about a 45 minute drive away. It is accessible from most of the UK by low cost airlines such as Monarch, Ryanair, Easyjet, Mytravellite. Package holiday airlines also fly to Almeria. Other airports with reasonable access are Murcia (approx 1.5 hours) and Alicante (approx 2 hours). Travel from the apartment is provided with a good network of local bus services accessible within a 5 minute walk.

The towns castle is actually Muslim fortress, and original Arabic village, commenced construction in the Eighth Century. Its original name was 'Hins Ashar' meaning 'Hill Castle' and was the origin of the towns name - Iznajar.

The Lake of Iznajar (also known as the lake of Andalucia is actually a reservoir (embalse), which was constructed around 25 years ago. It has a capacity of more than 900 million cubic metres, 100 kilometres of banks and a length of 32 kilometres. It creates a superb residence for an abundance of aquatic and bird life, and so is the ideal place for bird watching and fishing. There are numerous routes for hiking and mountain biking. The Rio Genil, which feeds the Reservoir, passes through the provinces of Cordoba, Malaga and Granada, and collects much of its water from the melting snow on the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

On the banks of the lake is a lovely beach. It is around 2 minutes drive from the town, and is completely unspoiled. As the lake waters reduce during the hot summer months, the beach gradually becomes larger. There are picnic facilities, and in the summer there is a bar selling selling drinks and snacks, and a lovely beach-side restaurant. There are some watersport facilities located near the beach during the summer. With its constantly calm fresh-waters, the lake is ideal for swimming, and has a gradual increase to its depth

There is a lovely municiple swimming pool in the town. The pool is open during the summer and is located along side the banks of the lake, on the outskirts of the town. There is a small shop/bar selling drinks and snacks.

The kitchen is fully fitted with Bosch appliances and has a handy utility room. There is full air-conditioning throughout. The location is only 15 minutes from Malaga airport on the new Costa Del Sol by-pass Road and is close to the many superb golf courses including La Cala & Santana.

It is just below Mijas Pueblo which is a lovely white village with great restaurants and it's own bull-ring. The coast is 10 minutes by car and Marbella & Malaga close by. It has garage parking with a lift to the front door.

The apartment is in a secure gated complex and is situated off the road from Fuengirola to Mijas Pueblo which is 5 minutes by car. Mijas has many fine restaurants and bars and a great view from

The Mirador over the coast and to Africa and Gibraltar on a clear day. Great shopping is available in Mijas as well as Marbella and the lovely city of Malaga. We recommend visiting Granada (2 hrs), Cordoba(3hrs) and Ronda(1 hr). Benalmadena and Cabopino offer great restaurants(15 mins). It is also close to superb golf courses such as Mijas, La Cala and Santana.

There is a fantastic waterpark at Fuengirola for the kids as well as the fantastic clean beaches which the coast is famous for. Boat trips & deep sea fishing are available at most of the nearby ports.

For glamour you can't beat Marbella & Puerto Banus and we recomend the lovely beach restaurants where tapas and fine wine are a must especially in the evening. Regular bus service to/ from Mijas/Fuengirola. Airport (15 mins).

This is a spacious, beautifully furnished house with four double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge/dining room and kitchen all fully stocked so there is no need for extra luggage.

There is air-conditioning/heating in the lounge and 3 of the double bedrooms with a portable fan in the 4th bedroom. All linen, towels and beach towels are provided and the kitchen is fully stocked with crockery/cutlery/pans etc.

To the front of the house there is a spacious terraced area and beautiful gardens with high quality metal table and chairs for you to relax in the evening sun with a glass of wine. To the side of the house is a private pool and barbecue area with sunbeds and sun canopies. To the rear of the house is another terraced area with sun canopy, table and chairs with an outside utility room that stores a washing machine, beach towels and inflatables for all your family fun in the pool.

Outside the front of the house is a play area with swings and slide for the children. The fantastic beaches and harbour are a 5/10 minute walk away from the house and there is a brand new supermarket and restaurants opened only 2 minutes away. Tapas bars and restaurants can also be located in the square at Torre de la Horadada (10 minute walk). A short drive will access all the surroundings towns and villages alongside the Mar Menor.
